Gay Wilson, who joined the Library as Planning & Development Librarian 11 years ago, was named Development Director to oversee local gift giving and grant writing for the Library Foundation. Gay will continue to do grant writing for government grants that she did in her previous role. Before joining the Library, Gay served as director of the Webster County Library District for seven years, and Library Technician at CoxHealth Libraries for nine years. But Gay has a longer history with our district. She worked as a clerk in the Technical Services Department and Reference Assistant at the Main Library (now Midtown Carnegie Branch) from 1981 – 1986.
“I am passionate about libraries and the Springfield-Greene County Library District has had a large impact on my life. I remember visiting the Children’s Department at the Main Library as a preschooler, using the card catalog at the Brentwood Branch Library as a teen, and taking my daughters to summer reading programs at the Republic Branch Library. The Library has always been, and continues to be, an inviting place for people of all ages. I cherish being able to secure funding and support for our Library.”
